This is the third book in the successful Spirals series, which addresses language development in three core areas of the curriculum. Language Development for Science considers some of the specific concepts and vocabulary that children need in order to access the science curriculum and provides:
- opportunities for practising key words and concepts
- fully scripted, tried and tested activities
- an accompanying video-CD showing a demonstration of the circle time approach.
Linking the work done in pre-school and school with simple games and activities that can be used at home. These activities have also been found useful in these settings as stand alone be activities to develop particular concepts. These simple play/activities are ideal for teachers to copy and give out to parents and carers who want to know how to help their child improve his or her language skills and have fun at the same time. There is a clear structure and progression of ideas with supporting black/line drawings to act as prompts. There is a simple record keeping system which can be used if wished to support home/school/setting communication.
